ZNU Erasmus+ eRead project team met online with partners to discuss the project implementation details

The meeting on May 31, 2023 in a videoconference format was devoted to the elaboration of BA module “Teaching Reading Digitally”. The entire ZNU team led by the manager M.Zaluzhna actively participated in the discussion of the ways to develop the future module. The partners decided to read the publications devoted to methods of teaching languages, to review the latest developments in the field of digital reading and the applications that improve reading skills. They agreed to create a common bank of materials to use within the project, and to share their knowledge as well as their own experiences of teaching reading in national languages.

Foreign Language Faculty representatives studied the best practices of multilingual education in Estonia within MultiEd project

Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU, Zaporizhzhia National University) has been participating in the MultiEd project of the Erasmus+ program of the KA2 (Capacity Building in Higher Education) for three years. A 5-day visit from May 22 to 26 to Estonia was called "Estonia as Education Nation". The ZNU was represented by participants from the Chair of English Philology and Linguodidactics Doctor of Sci. in Philology, Assoc. Prof. Iryna Galutskykh, Candidate of Sci. in Philology, Assoc. Prof. Oksana Shevchuk and from the Chair of Second Foreign Language Teaching Candidate of Sci. in Philology, Assoc. Prof. Hanna Vanina. The study visit program for the group of teachers from eight Ukrainian HEIs-partners was devoted to the study of Estonia's experience in the field of multilingual education.

Zaporizhia National University took part in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ project" Developing Reading Skills With and Through Digital Technologies" (eRead), which took place at Narva College of the University of Tartu on March 13-14, 2023. ZNU was represented by the associate professor of the English Philology and Linguistic Didactics Department, project manager Maryna Zaluzhna, and associate professor of the Department of International Economy, Natural Resources and Economics of International Tourism Natalia Venherska. Other ZNU team members joined the meeting in online format.

New initiative to improve national language teaching as foreign/second language concentrating on reading skills and engaging interactive digital tools

A new EU-funded project has kicked off. It aims to significantly improve the approaches to teaching languages with and through digital tools. The project aims in 3 years to update courses of methods of teaching languages and produce engaging digital courses to boost the language skills of the international students, staff, immigrants and everyone interested in these languages.

The representatives of the Department of Journalism of ZNU returned from Poznań (Poland), where the final meeting of the governing board of the international project of the European Union ERASMUS+KA2 "Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism" (DESTIN) was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University. The dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Viktor Kostyuk, and associate professors of the Department of Journalism, Yulia Liubchenko and Olena Usmanova represented ZNU team.

Representatives of the Faculty of Foreign Philology visited Germany within the "Erasmus+" "Multied" project

From November 7 to 11 representatives of the consortium from the University of Heidelberg: Ph.D., Professor Hans-Werner Hüneke, Ph.D., Professor Yuta Remarczyk, and Imola Czolbe organized a study visit to Heidelberg, Germany for all partners of the MultiEd team. The trip was organized with the support of Tartu University project managers Oleksandra Golovko and Christian Klauks.

Faculty of Journalism of ZNU participated in the final conference of the international project "DESTIN"

Teachers, students and postgraduates of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU joined the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Journalism of the Future: challenges, trends, prospects of development ". The online event was held at Ivan Franko Lviv National University. The conference was a unique outcome of the implementation of the large-scale international project of the European Union ERASMUS+KA2 " Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism (DESTIN)", which was implemented in 10 Ukrainian institutions of higher education that train specialists and professionals in the field of journalism for four years. Among them was the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU.

ZNU representatives studied multilingualism in Estonia within the MultiEd project and developed a multilingual education strategy for ZNU

During July 19-29, 2022, Varvara Petrosova, director of the Center for Intensive Study of Foreign Languages, and Igor Kudinov, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology, completed the internship course "Multilingualism and beyond" at the University of Tartu (Estonia). This trip took place within the framework of the implementation of the international project "Erasmus+ KA2" "Development of the training potential of foreign language teachers as a way to introduce multilingual education and European integration of Ukraine / MultiEd". The organization of the trip took place on the initiative and with the support of Tartu University project managers Oleksandra Golovko and Christian Klauks, and the teachers of the course were Estonian lecturers and professors, including the project coordinator Kristina Kalas.
