As it is known, Zaporizhzhia national university recently has won an EU grant in the ERASMUS + program for improving journalistic education. The organizers of this project have shared the detailed information on the plans for implementing their educational ideas.The official title of this project is «Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism». That is why, in addition to universities, you can see professional organizations such as the Ethical Journalism Network (UK), the European Journalism Training Association (Netherlands), WUS (World University Service, Austria) and Public Radio (Ukraine) within the consortium. Our partners are also Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Students Association.
Acceptance of documents for postgraduate course and doctoral studies in Zaporizhzhia national university is continuing. It should be mentioned that a new model of training of highly qualified scientific workers has been introduced in Ukraine since 2016. From now, doctors of philosophy (PhD) are trained instead of Candidates of Sciences. According to the European tradition, applicants of the PhD degree become applicants of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education. The model of training of scientific workers is also significantly changing. The 4-year period of education is now accompanied by a powerful educational component concentrated on gaining profound knowledge in the specialty, forming language competencies (preparation for the passing of international language tests), research skills (academic writing, publishing articles in publications included in the international sci-tech science databases and Web of Science, work on projects, participation in grant programs), etc.
The Faculty of Economics of Zaporizhzhia national University held a traditional event of convocation ceremony of first-year students-economists. This year, guests from the city of Katowice (Poland) - Doctor of Science, Professor of the University of Silesia Dobroslava Venzhovich-Zhelkovska and Dorota Foch, joined the celebrations that took place on the island of Khortytsia at the recreation center of ZNU, as well as the chairman of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Society of Polish Culture by A. Mickiewicz, Olha Pavliuk.
Canoe marathon masters world cup was held in Portugal (Vila de Prado) from 6 to 9 September. Student of ZNU Liudmyla Babak came to the finish line first in the race at the marathon in the distance of 15.4 km among women. The sportswoman confirmed her leadership and became a two-time world champion at the marathon distances.
The conference of the working team of the Zaporizhzhia national university was held under the chairmanship of the rector Mykola Frolov. 227 registered delegates from the working team of the possible 250 people took part in the event. That is why, according to the words of the chairman of the permanent mandate commission, Viktoriia Miniailo, there was a quorum at the meeting. Consequently, all decisions which were made in the course of them are legitimate.
Scientific Library of ZNU is an almost one million fund of various literatures, an electronic catalog with more than 1 million 160 thousand entries, an electronic library with access to 123 thousand electronic copies, access to open electronic archives of universities of Ukraine and other countries, world electronic databases of scientific information.
Among the main priorities of Zaporizhzhia National University is taking care of the health of its professors and students, prevent diseases among young people, and support those who need medical care and treatment. That is why, freshmen are reminded that they can turn not only to a specialized student polyclinic, but also to a health center which is located in the campus - on the side of the first floor of the academic building № 6. They can visit it from Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 3.40pm.
The German city of Brandenburg hosted the European Boat Racing Championship "Dragon" among young men, juniors, youth and adults. Almost one and a half thousand athletes from 18 countries took part in the competitions, 81 of them were representing Ukraine.
Recently, the celebration events which were dedicated to the Day of Knowledge took place in the College of Commerce in ZNU. The main “culprits” of this celebration were entrants; the college’s collective noted the anxiety and pride in the eyes of the enrollers because it was their first time as students in the college. Administration, professors of the college, parents, students of senior courses and graduates from previous years were also present on this event.
