On May 20 the Faculty of Journalism of Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU) organized and held an original event within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 DESTIN project – «Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards. Integrity and Professionalism». «DESTIN Open Day» is an open day, which aimed to gather online in one place and at one time real and potential participants of the program: faculty members, students, employers (media workers in the region), university applicants, public authorities.
Traditionally, spring break is the time for professional development of Zaporizhzhia in-service teachers. Zaporizhzhia National University organized a professional development workshop “Distance foreign language teaching: online features” within the project Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE MultiEd (“Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration”). The professional seminar-practicum was organized by the Faculty of Foreign Philology in cooperation with Zaporizhzhia City Council’s municipal establishment “Centre of pedagogical professional development” and the Faculty of Journalism.
On February 18, a scheduled meeting of the Erasmus + KA2 project consortium "Development of foreign language teacher training capacity as a way to implement multilingual education and European integration of Ukraine (MultiEd)" took place. The partnership was represented by the University of Tartu (Estonia), Heidelberg Pedagogical University (Germany), Aston University (UK), 8 Ukrainian universities: Zaporizhzhya National University, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi National University of Mykolaiv, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Institution “Donbas State Pedagogical University”, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Establishment "Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk", TESOL All-Ukrainian Association of English Teachers». Oleksandra Golovko, project coordinator and manager from the University of Tartu (Estonia) moderated the event.
The year 2021 began for the team of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU (Zaporizhzhia National University), which is a partner in the consortium under the Erasmus + KA2 DESTIN project, with fruitful work on disseminating the results of the project. Thus, in early February, Mariupol State University in cooperation with Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv organized an online event for teachers and students of journalism faculties of national universities, representatives of the DESTIN project - a master class "Mobile Journalism" from British journalist, lecturer at the Bath Spa University Lizzie Powell. ZNU was represented by Associate Professors of the Department of Journalism Yurii Kostiuk, Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Yuliia Liubchenko and Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova.
On February 11, the Ukrainian partners of the Erasmus + KA2 project consortium “Development of foreign language teacher training capacity as a way to implement multilingual education and European integration of Ukraine (MultiEd)” met with invited experts: Iryna Zolotaryova (National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education) and Zhanna Talanova (National Erasmus + office in Ukraine). Oleksandra Golovko, project coordinator and manager from the University of Tartu (Estonia) moderated the event. The Ukrainian partnership was represented by 58 participants from 8 universities: Zaporizhzhya National University, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi National University of Mykolaiv, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Institution “Donbas State Pedagogical University”, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Establishment "Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk".
On February 4, there took place a meeting of the partners of the Erasmus + KA2 project consortium "Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration (MultiEd)". The work plan for 2021 was discussed there.
In December, fourteen teachers of the faculties of foreign philology and journalism ZNU (Zaporizhzhia National University) received certificates of successful completion of the advanced course "Content and Language Integrated Learning for Tertiary Education". The course took place from May to December 2020 within the framework of the international Erasmus + KA2 project MultiEd "Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration."
On the third of December, the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine hosted a webinar «Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project Winners' Day: How to successfully implement a project» on the platform of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine. The event was aimed at Jean Monnet project implementers: teams of winning projects in 2020, coordinators of current projects, Erasmus+ coordinators in the international relations departments of higher education institutions, their accountants and financial managers.
The autumn semester of this academic year at ZNU marked active work within the framework of the implementation of European of Erasmus + KA2 projects like the MultiEd / "Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration". Within its action plan there has been done considerable amount of work so far, despite the unfavorable circumstances of the global coronavirus pandemic. Thus, in September-October, the interim results of the study of the state of multilingual education in ZNU were processed, which will soon be finalized in the report. The project partnership holds regular zoom meetings, where they discuss important issues of procuring the equipment, organizing study meetings and seminars, planning work for 2021.
