American journalists took part in the round table conference which was held in ZNU

On March 21, a round table conference was held at the Faculty of Journalism with the participation of American photojournalist Brendan Hoffman. The event was held in the framework of the opening of the photo exhibition “Brotherland: war in Ukraine” in ZNU. Honorary guest of ZNU, American journalist and scholar of the U.S. Fulbright program Rene Hickman joined the event to discuss current social issues, the image of Ukraine in the world, standards of journalism, etc.

Masters of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU were awarded diplomas

At the end of last week, graduates of the Faculty of Journalism were awarded diplomas. 

This year 53 masters received diplomas. Now the Faculty of Journalism is expanding the range of specialties, and its graduates will be able to work not only editors and journalists, advertisers and bloggers, but also experts in the field of politics and management, archival, librarianship, etc. Therefore, the current masters who wish to continue their studies have been invited to master a new specialty - “Information, library and archival business (Information activities in business, politics and public administration)” or to enter the graduate school of ZNU.

There are two powerful projects on the Faculty of Journalism such as “Bureau of analytical and investigative journalism” and “Unconditional”

Last year was very fruitful for the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU as two powerful journalistic projects of Zaporizhzhia National University with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine, started in 2018 and will continue in the new 2019. The first is the annual cycle of weekly “Unconditional” radio programs devoted to topics and people who are poorly represented in the mainstream media. The second is the Bureau of analytical and investigative journalism”, which is working to create high-quality media texts on conflict-sensitive topics.

ZNU as a part of the consortium won the grant within the Program Erasmus+ КА2 Capacity Building in Higher Education

The representative of the working group from ZNU Associate Professor Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova noted that an official title of the project is Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism. The total amount of the grant for the consortium (10 Ukrainian universities and 3 European ones in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and 4 EU NGOs and 2 Ukrainian NGOs including the Ukrainian Students' Association) is almost 800 thousand euros (798,470 - approved budget). The project implementation period is November 15, 2018-November 15, 2021.
