February 26th – The Faculty of Foreign Philology of ZNU welcomed the representatives of the ‘French Without Borders’ international association: the President Benjamin Beckner and the lecturers Lydia Cuffer and Gavin Suzerland. It is the third time the association delegates visit our University.

During their visit Benjamin Beckner shared with the students and lecturers of the Department of Roman Philology and Translation on the ‘French Without Borders’ international program. He also mentioned the possibility to undertake an internship at language summer camps in Odessa and the Crimea, which will be held this summer. The camps give students an amazing opportunity to improve their language skills by communicating with native French speakers.

Gavin Suzerland gave an open lecture for the participants of the meeting where he told about the present geopolitical situation in the world and outlined the problems and perspectives of Ukraine and Turkey concerning their joining the European Union.

Head of the Department of Roman philology, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Iryna Shargay announced that the guests would give three more lectures. At the next workshop with the third-year students Gavin Suzerland will raise the problems of mutual relations in the modern French society and will talk on the family values crisis. Benjamin Beckner will give a lecture in Spanish and Lydia Cuffer will take part in the round table debates on the The issues in teaching French, where she will share her experience with the future teachers – the fifth-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology.
