December 27 was the date for a regular meeting of ZNU Academic Council. Much attention was focused on the state of health protection in the university.
At the beginning of the meeting everyone present greeted Dmytro Fedorchenko, PhD student of the Faculty of Biology, and Maryna Psyol, first-year student of the same faculty, who were presented with diplomas of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
V.Z. Gryshchak, ZNU Vice-Rector on Research delivered a report on state and prospects of research work in the university. Particularly, he pointed to the fact that in 2005 more PhD-theses than ever before were defended in our university. A real breakthrough in training academic staff for ZNU is quite possible in the nearest future. The conferees approved by means of secret vote the election on a competitive basis of T.O. Kolomoyets’ and V.O. Gorbulya to the posts of Head of the Chair, as well as the assumption of academic statuses – of professors to L.N. Sergeyeva and V.V. Kryzhko and of associate professors to B.V. Nazarov and L.A. Danilevs’ka. The suggestion to establish a research laboratory on the problems of computer crime counteraction at the Faculty of Law was put forward and accepted.
Plenty of attention was focused on the state of health protection in the university, which is not up to the mark at present. N.Y. Anisimova, chief medical officer of ZNU sanatorium-preventorium informed the audience about the necessity to buy new medical equipment. But Rector Prof. S.M. Tymchenko and others’ main concerns were about the fact that nowadays the level of medical treatment of the lecturers is too low: they cannot turn for sick-lists to ZNU medical center, but have to go to hospitals domiciliary. It was decided to reform the system of health protection, so that it were complex and effective. A newly-formed workgroup is to ensure the movement in this direction.
