Cultural knowledge is an integral part of learning any language, a foreign language in particular. Students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages don’t miss the opportunity to join the customs and traditions of the countries whose languages they are studying.

November 24, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the United States of America, a traditional North American holiday established to give thanks to God for the harvest and for the blessings received during the year. The specifics of this holiday were remembered by the students of the 5th course of the specialties "Language and literature (German)", "Translation (German)" and the 4th year students of the specialties "Language and literature (German, French)", "Translation (French)", who learn English as a second foreign language.
At the initiative of the associate professors of the Department of Second Language Studies Olha Kanibolotska and Hanna Vanina, the students prepared interesting facts about this day, information about its appearance, informative and funny videos, actively participated in quizzes. Furthermore, the students treated their groupmates to traditional dessert – pumpkin pie and other sweets. The highlight of these thematic meetings was Thanksgiving Tree on which students placed multicolored cards with words of appreciation and acknowledgements to loved ones.
Such classes are a great motivating factor for learning a foreign language, which stimulate and enhance the search activities of students and encourage them to be creative.
