The representative of the working group from ZNU Associate Professor Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova noted that an official title of the project is Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism. The total amount of the grant for the consortium (10 Ukrainian universities and 3 European ones in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and 4 EU NGOs and 2 Ukrainian NGOs including the Ukrainian Students' Association) is almost 800 thousand euros (798,470 - approved budget). The project implementation period is November 15, 2018-November 15, 2021.

Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova informed that except herself ZNU team include the Journalism Faculty Dean Viktor Kostiuk, Associate Professors Yulia Liubchenko, Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Iurii Kostiuk and Olena Tupakhina

It is important to mention that this year application pool consisted 874 applications for the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education call. Only 118 (23 left in the reserved list) were supported. That is why the project participants highlight that the competition was very high.

The project is designed for the period from November 2018 to November 2021. Each year, a number of activities are planned in order to achieve the main goal of the project - improving journalism education through the quality updating of the Bachelor and Master programs in journalism to align with the EU standards, improving student employability and international mobility, and promoting media literacy in the society.

Among the main events are study visits to European and Ukrainian universities-members of the consortium, peer-review of the updated study programs at the faculties of journalism of Ukraine, holding open days and presentations of updated programs, development of public outreach Media Literacy courses, their testing and launching in the mode of distance education. As a result, project participants should submit to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine National Recommendations for the implementation of updated programs in the country's universities. Coordinator of the project is Bath Spa University (UK). Other important events are equipping journalism laboratories in the Ukrainian universities (video equipment, computer hardware and software).

Twenty partners will work in close cooperation for reaching the goal. Among them are four European universities: Bath Spa University (United Kingdom), Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland), Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Ireland), Linnaeus University (Sweden). Ten Ukrainian universities are 1. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Academician Stepan Demianchuk International University of Economics and Humanities, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Mariupol State University, Sumy State University, Ukrainian Catholic University, Uzhhorod National University, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Zaporizhzhia National University. Professional organizations are World University Service (Austria), Ethnical Journalism Network (United Kingdom), European Journalism Training Association (Netherlands), NGO "Ukrainian Association of Students", PO "Hromadkse Radio", and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
