The European Weightlifting Championship among juniors and youth took place in Poland. Four representatives of the Zaporizhzhia region, as part of the Ukrainian team, took part in the competition. The first day of the competition became quite successful for sportsmen from Zaporizhzhia as the bronze medalist of the European Championship in the 56 kg weight category became a student of Zaporizhzhia national university Dmytro Voronovskyi, who in total showed the result of 235 kg-104 kg jerk and 131 kg of push.
Moreover, another student of Zaporizhzhia national university, Kyrylo Pyrohov, received the bronze medal in the European Championship. In the weight category of 94 kg, he became the third in the double-event amount - 360 kg (168 + 192) and got silver in the snatch. Kyrylo is also a graduate of Sports society “Dinamo”.
And at the end of the competition, the debutant of the European Championship Oleh Hanzenko distinguished himself with “small bronze”. At the weight of +105 kg, the student of the College of Economics and Law of Zaporizhzhia national university won the bronze medal in the snatch with the result of 176 kg, and was the fourth in the combined world event - 377 kg (176 + 201).
The athletes were prepared for the competitions by the professor of Zaporizhzhia national university Anatolii Orlov and the coach Oleksandr Slobodianiuk.
