On November 5, the Faculty of Foreign Philology of ZNU organized a Christmas holiday in German.  Its initiator and organizer was Alla Mamedova, associate professor of the department of teaching a second foreign language. The participants of the holiday are students of the specialty “English language and literature (philology)” (groups 303, 401 and 402) and the specialty “English language and literature (translation)” (group 402). Therefore, for them this event was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate not only their creative abilities and acting talents, but also to confirm the high level of proficiency in the second, German, language.

Apart from the students of the faculty, the event was attended by honored guests such as the dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology Halyna Moroshkina, head of the Department of Teaching a Second Foreign Language Kateryna Ruzhyn and many other professors from different departments. All of them highly appreciated the talented performances of the participants of the holiday. At the beginning of the event, its presenter, a 4th year student of the specialty English Language and Literature (Translation), Anna Popova, congratulated all those present and thanked them for their support, which is very important for the participants of the event. Holding such an event has long become a tradition for the faculty of foreign philology: it has been celebrated eleven years in a row. And each time they strive to approach its organization creatively.

Since Christmas is a festive time, for the thematic evening the students decided to stage the famous works of the outstanding storytellers of the Brothers Grimm among them were “The Bremen Town Musicians”, “The Golden Goose” and “Snow White”. At the same time, they approached the task responsibly and creatively.

Each performance was rewarded with ovations. At the end of the holiday, representatives of each group-participants sang famous German and English Christmas songs, which were sang by students and teachers gathered in the audience. And on the proposal of the host Anna Popova, the holiday was completed with the general performance of the traditional Ukrainian carol “New Joy Become”. Associate Professor Alla Mamedova thanked the students participating in the festival and all those present at the event.  In turn, the profesors, on behalf of all the spectators, approvingly commented on the organizers and participants of the holiday and assured that they had very pleasant impressions of the performances.
