Recently, Zaporizhzhia National University participated the large-scale meeting of managers of the Erasmus + KA2 MultiEd project, where partners from Ukraine, Estonia, United Kingdom and Germany set plans and tasks for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs Gennady Vasylchuk, Project Administrative Manager, Deputy Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Journalism Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova, project participants from the Faculty of Foreign Philology Associate Professors of the Chair of the Second Foreign Language Teaching Olena Pieshkova and Olha kanibolotska attended the event. The representatives of the project coordinator Tartu University (Estonia) Oleksandra Golovko and Kristijan Klauks led the meeting.

ZNU as the national coordinator reported on the equipment procurement for eight partner universities of the consortium. ZNU has almost completed the tender procedure and purchased the equipment for the multimedia classrooms of the Faculty of Foreign Philology: two computers, a multimedia board, server, Wi-Fi router, mobile projector and screen. The set for video recording (cameras, headphones, microphones, and a tripod) replenishes technical equipment of the Laboratory of the Television Journalism at the Faculty of Journalism. After the renovation work is done in these classrooms, the purchased equipment will be installed there.

At the meeting, managers discussed the working packages activities and planned the further steps for the project implementation and dissemination. The priority is to update the curricula of the educational and professional program in English Philology for the bachelor's and master's level, as well as the educational and scientific program "Philology" for PhD students. It is planned to introduce eight new courses in the areas of methodology content and language integrated learning (CLIL), second language acquisition, academic writing and integrity, information and media literacy. From the next school year, there will be piloting of the updated curricula. In addition, according to the requirements of the project, the project team is updating 14 existing courses for the teachers of foreign languages curricula – various individual tasks, entrance and exit tests of students' language skills will be added, new topics will be introduced and educational literature will be modernized. The MultiEd consortium plans to purchase modern English-language literature (collection of e-books) to supplement the methodological support for teaching new and updated courses.

Another area the consortium is working on is creating an e-course "CLIL Methodology" for the general public. The course will be open on the online platforms of eight Ukrainian partner universities and will allow anyone to learn the basics of the CLIL methodology. It is expected that the e-course’s target audience will be secondary schools and university teachers.

Zaporizhzhia National University is also leading another priority area of MultiEd work, which is analysing the results of the all-Ukrainian survey. About ten thousand students, academic and administrative staff of eight Ukrainian partner universities participated in this research called “Multilingual Education in Ukraine”. The study results will be used as the background for producing the strategy of multilingual education in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian universities work of these areas of activities in order to meet European standards of teaching languages and introduce national recommendations for improving multilingual higher education in our country.
