Terno Sergiy Oleksandrovych

Sergiy Terno has the Doctor degree in Pedagogics, Professor of the Ukrainian History Chair, Head of innovative educational technologies laboratory's sector (Training and research laboratory of modern history of Ukraine and innovative educational technologies, Zaporizhzhya National University).

Works as a lecture at the Ukrainian History Chair since 1995 and was elected the Associate Professor at the same Chair and the Head of interactive Technologies Study Humanities Laboratory in 2003-2013. Since 2013 woks head of innovative educational technologies sector of Training and research laboratory of modern history of Ukraine and innovative educational technologies. Since 2017 woks head of Training and research laboratory of modern history of Ukraine and innovative educational technologies

In 2015 defended the thesis “The Development Strategy of Senior Pupils' Critical Thinking in History Teaching Process” at the Special Scientific Council of the Dragomanov National Pedagogical University (Kyiv).

In 2003 defended the thesis “The formation of historical concepts among children of the 9th form in secondary school” at the Special Scientific Council of the Dragomanov National Pedagogical University (Kyiv).

In 2001 was awarded a diploma of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences Presidiumas a result of the contest among young scientists for receiving the prize of NASU for the work “Technology of formation historical concepts among 9th form pupils of secondary school” (School-book – Zaporizhzhya, 2001. - 60 pg.). In 2002 as the result of the contest for the prize of NASU among young scientists for best scientific works, he was awarded the prize of NASU (resolution of the Presidium of NASU of 24.02.2003; work “Postmodernism in modern Ukrainian historiography”, published in “They play in a different way", or postmodernism in Ukrainian historiography // Genesa: politology, history, philosophy.- 2004.- №1.- P. 92-111; New approaches to studying history: progress in science or the way to nowhere? // History in schools of Ukraine.- 2003.- № 1.- P. 45-49; № 2 .- P. 45-51; they are put on site's page The scientific publications).

In 2004 was awarded the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Diploma for active participation in working out the basic and complete secondary education State Standards and for significant contribution to the national education development in Ukraine. During 2003-2004 worked in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine project “Curriculum for 12-year schooling”.

The vice-editor-in-chief of Scientific-methodological journal “History in Schools of Ukraine” (Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine) in 2004-2010, Head of the Scientific-methodological Council of the History faculty in Zaporizhzhya National University (2004-2009).

He took part in cooperative project of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and European Council: international seminar “New approaches to working out the school-books in the world history for secondary and high school in Ukraine” (September-October 2003, Yalta), international seminar “Modern curriculum in History for secondary educational establishments of Ukraine: questions and answers” (July 2004, Lviv), international scientific symposiums under the aegis of European Council “1945” (October 2003, Yalta), “1989” (April-May 2004, Budapesht).

He had probation period in George Ekkert Institute for textbooks' foreign investigations (September 2004, Braunshweig, Germany).

Was awarded the breastplate “Honors educator of Ukraine” (2006).

Since 2006 to 2008 – leaded the state budget scientific-research work “Critical Thinking on History lessons in Secondary School” (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine order № 654, 16 November 2005). The main result is the critical thinking development educational system in History teaching, which was represented in didactic manuals for 6-11 forms' pupils (Ministry of education and science of Ukraine stamp "Approved").

Worked as an expert in the project “Civic Education - Ukraine” since August 2006 till February 2008. Project's result is the textbook for students "Civic education: theory and teaching methods". - Kyiv, 2008. - 174 p.

Worked in Program of European Union and Council of Europe "Promotion to developing of the human rights culture in Ukraine and South Caucasus " during 2008. Participated as expert in the project's direction “Teachers training provides the multicultural education preparation at Pedagogical Universities and In-service Institutes”. He took part in three Program's workshops: "New approaches to tolerance training in conditions of multicultural and multiconfessional society", which was held the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine and Council of Europe 21-22 April 2008 in Lviv (Ukraine); "Reflection of national identity and cultural diversity in History curriculums, handbooks and manuals", 21-23 May 2008 in Chernigiv (Ukraine); "New approaches for multicultural and multiconfessional education" 3-4 July 2008 in Mukachevo (Zakarpattya region, Ukraine).

In 2009-2010 supervised over the state budget theme (governmental grant) "Testing of educational achievements from History and social science". The project purpose was the pupils' and students' educational achievements testing conception, technique and technology. Researching results are put on site's page The scientific publications.

In 2011-2012 leaded the state budget theme "Testing technologies in Humanities education". The project purpose was testing theory creation and proposition the pupils' and students' educational achievements control with help multilevel technologies of preliminary, thematic, total assessment from history and social science. Results of research are placed on site's page The scientific publications.

From 2015 to 2021, he was involved as a pro bono expert in the activities of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine for conducting trainings on human rights, developing methodological materials in working groups, editing the school calendar on human rights (2016), etc.

2017–2018 – launch of the first online courses for educators of Ukraine on the Prometheus platform ("Critical thinking for educators", "Educational tools of critical thinking").

2018 - work on the project of the state standard of basic secondary education at the Center for the Development of Education (ORE) for the authors of the Model Framework Educational Program and the Model Study Program "New Ukrainian School - 2" within the framework of the project of Polish cooperation for the development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

2018 - holding trainings: "Development of critical thinking", "Modern educational tools" for teachers of the Zaporizhia region (May 29, 31, 2018, ZOIPPO ZOR).

2018-2019 – lecturer at the International School "Academy of Pedagogical Creativity" (Mykolaiv).

2019 - at the request of the eTwinning educational program of the European Commission, 2 trainings "Educational design in the 21st century" were held for teachers participating in the eTwinning Plus Practical Session 2019 program (June 11-12, 2019, Kyiv "ADMIRAL HALL").

2019-2020 - cooperation with the all-Ukrainian educational platform "Na urok" - participation in 2 video conferences and holding 2 webinars.

2019 – cooperation with the "Vseosvita" educational project, holding 3 webinars.

2019 – cooperation with the Kharkiv office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine, development of methodological recommendations for museum employees.

16-24.02.2020 – professional development by participating in the International Seminar for scientists and educators "Study of the Holocaust in Ukraine to create an atmosphere of tolerance" (Yad Vashem, Jerusalem, Israel).

He has published more than 170 scientific and scientific-methodological works.
