At the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Zaporizhzhya National University was held IX Scientific-practical student conference "Christmas Readings". Year by year it is becoming increasingly popular among students who are interested in science. So, this time the organizing committee received 196 abstracts from the representatives of our University, as well as young researchers from Zaporizhzhya National Technical University and Classic Private University, and even from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In the framework of the events dedicated to the St. Nicholas Day and Christmas, a magical game "Christmas Britain Battle" took place at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In such a way students presented their creative individual task for the second foreign language (English) under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Second Language Studies Larysa Pinchuk. The second year students of the same Department were also invited, and they did a good job.

In the framework of the official visit to Zaporizhzhya National University Ambassador of France to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont gave a lecture, in which she outlined the main directions of Ukrainian and French cooperation. The guest of honour drew special attention to the educational aspect: she talked about scholarships for teachers and students, the possibility of internships in France and Canada, Embassy’s help in the study of French with books and electronic sources.

For active promotion and strengthening of relations between Ukraine and France, the work of the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Halyna Moroshkina was awarded with the Order of Academic Palms, the award of France for merits in the system of education and science. Its informal name is "The Purple Legion", similar to the "Legion of Honour". The Order was presented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont.

ZNU was visited by the Ambassador of France in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont. She met with the University leadership to discuss further prospects of partnership in education. One of the projects that are planned to implement within the French vector of activities in the next year will be a visit of teacher from France to ZNU for internship. Therefore, students will have an opportunity to learn French with native speaker.

There are many interesting cultural and artistic traditions at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Zaporizhzhya National University. So, for several years in November the most creative students, under the guidance of associate professor of the Department of German Philology and Translation, the famous specialist in study of literature Valentyna Botner, prepare musical and dramatic performances dedicated to the Nobel Laureates in Literature.

The representatives of the administration and professors of our University have recently visited the Narva College of the University of Tartu. This visit took place within the framework of the project "Implementation of the multilingual education model and the methodology of simultaneous teaching subject and language (CLIL) at Zaporizhzhya National University and Zaporizhzhya Oblast". The event was held due to the Concept of learning foreign languages which had been successfully implemented at ZNU for several years, initiated by the Rector Mykola Frolov. Here's what the initiator of the visit, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Halyna Moroshkina says about the possibility of implementation of the multilingual education model at University and the characteristics of the educational process:

November 21, Zaporizhzhya National University was visited by the representatives of the Embassy of France in Ukraine, the Attaché for university and scientific cooperation Sylvain Rigollet and the Attaché for French language Fabrice Peutot. They were accompanied by the Director of the French Cultural Center "Alliance Française" Lyudmyla Bohdanovska. The honorable guests met with the representatives of the University administration and the Faculty of Foreign Languages, found out more about the material and technical base of the University and its international activities, and also discussed prospects for further cooperation between ZNU and higher education institutions of France.

Halyna Moroshkina, talking about the development of Estonian international activities of the university, paid special attention to the stages of connection establishment with the representatives of the University of Tartu and the prospects of further cooperation of ZNU with this leading Estonian higher education institution: "For the first time our Estonian colleagues visited the University in January of this year at our invitation. The staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages prepared for the guests of honour the fundamental presentations in all fields of activity: the professors described the learning process, told about the educational programmes and specializations of the University, its scientific and international activities, academic mobility, youth outreach, etc. Professor Saniya Yenikyeyeva prepared information about the scientific schools of the Faculty of Foreign Languages which are well-known not only in the national linguistic space, but also in the international academic circles.

Recently, at the Faculty of Foreign Languages has been launched a new bilingual excursion project of the student initiative "Our Faculty! Our Building! Unsere Fakultät! Unser Gebäude!". The idea of this project embodies the heritage of modern educational technologies Share It! and Peer-to-Peer and corresponds to the European traditions of the Bologna process, when the upperclassmen share information and experiences with freshmen.
