First Deputy Minister of education and science, youth and sports of Ukraine paid visit to Zaporizhzhya National University

March, 22 First Deputy Minister Yevgen Sulima had a working visit to ZNU. Together with Department of Education and Science (Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration) head Olexander Verozubov the Deputy Minister met with ZNU top management and deans. After Ukrainian tradition the guests were welcomed with bread and salt.

Prior to the scheduled meeting with the University academic faculty Mr. Sulima had a tour to ZNU Sports Complex and its sports halls equipped with up-to-date facilities and machines and awards won by ZNU sportsmen. The guest was also acquainted with the University history at ZNU Museum located in administrative building #1 and left his inscription in the Honourable Guests Book saying: "To the University body! History is a witness of an immense contribution made by academic faculty of the University to treasure house of national teaching and educational staff of Ukraine. Keep up following the glorious path with success sure to come. Wishing happiness and good health to academic faculty and students!" Anniversary edition of “Zaporizhzhya National University” Book was presented to the guest by acting rector Olexander Bondar.
The honourable guest has enjoyed "Ukraine in Embroidery" interactive map, demonstrating traditional embroidery scheme samples from various regions in Ukraine, which can be found at campus building #1, and attended exhibition of rare books, books printed anciently and unique editions from ZNU Scientific Library Fund, selected and exhibited by the Library director Valentyna Gerasymova.
At the meeting with the University faculty Deputy Minister has mentioned of specific place taken by Zaporizhzhya National University in the enhancement of national education, high research and teaching capability, activity and international mobility among undergraduates, postgraduates and teachers.
Yevgen Sulima has also drawn special attention to interpreting statements in the draft “On Higher Education”.
The academic body has come in favour of initiative suggested by the Ministry on adopting the Law on Education, as well as other legislative acts.
