Round table discussion on “Problematic issues of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production” took place in ZNU.
The meeting was attended by vice rector for educational research Volodymyr Volkov, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Assoc. Prof. Igor Shylovych, Facility Management Institute (Germany) director Wolfgang Schmale, Housing Maintenance and Utilities Direction (Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration) official Victoria Kovalyova and also leading experts from local companies and enterprises, such as joint-stock companies “Motor Sich”, “Zaporizhstal”, “Ukrgrafit”, “Zaporizhzhya Titanium and Magnesium Works” and so on.
Igor Shylovych, director of the Centre for Cleaner Production (Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) represented the programme, developed jointly with UNIDO. The project on “Initiating and Functioning of Cleaner Production in Ukraine” was signed by UNIDO and government of Ukraine in 2007. From then on the project has undergone two stages with the third one being launched at the moment, to participate in which were invited representatives of local companies and enterprises. At the round table meeting were raised such issues as opportunities and advantages of programme’s implementation at enterprises, being involved in the project, its financial support by NEFCO Scandinavian organisation etc.
Mister Schmale represented activities carried out by Facility Management Institute in energy efficiency programme in housing maintenance and utilities sphere in Germany and Ukraine, and outlined opportunities and importance of such measures at the enterprises within cleaner production project implementation. Attendees of the event were proposed to watch documentary demonstrating energy efficiency programme realization (showcase: modernisation of one of the Berlin districts).
Volodymyr Volkov stressed significance of integrating efforts of all the participants aimed at implementing projects in energy efficiency and cleaner production in Zaporizhzhya, and also offered any educational assistance on the part of ZNU for company representatives.
