Requiem Meeting to 67th Victory Anniversary held in Zhovtnevyi District of Zaporizhzhya

May, 7th at Sovetskaya square, the place where monument is erected to tank crew of Soviet Union Hero Mykola Yatsenko, a solemn requiem meeting was held, attended by veterans, officials from local authorities, HEIs, secondary schools and military lyceum.

The meeting was dedicated to honouring the memory of millions of citizens fallen dead during the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945. Students presented to veterans traditional ‘Den Pobedy’ (‘Victory Day’) song and shared their words of enormous gratitude for the great deed of sacrifice and strength in defending the native land from the enemy’s bondage.

Combatant, I rank captain and veteran of Great Patriotic War Mykola Shaltynov addressed school and University students wishing them peace and happiness. On the part of students and youth ZNU Student Council chairman Andriy Bondarenko greeted veterans and the guests. He stressed, that young generation honours and keeps the memory of wartime and feat accomplished by our senior generation. The memory of those perished was honoured by moment’s silence.

Words of deep gratitude, poems and war songs could be heard that day at the square. The veterans were presented with flowers and treated with honour. In the end, bouquets of spring and multi-coloured flowers were laid to the tank crew monument.
