ZNU Student became ‘Hope of Journalism’

In the late April results of 3rd Professional Journalism Contest on ‘Profession’s Honour-2012’ were summed up. The winners and laureates were awarded on April, 26 at ‘President-Hotel’ (Kyiv), among them was ZNU representative Kateryna Poliakova. 

The contest was initiated by Ukrainian Periodical Press Publishers Association and Independent Television and Radio Broadcast Professionals Association. This year 509 journalistic papers were submitted to organizing committee within five major nominations: Best Journalistic Investigation, Hope of Journalism, Best Presentation of High-Profile Material, Best Presentation of  Complicated Topic, Best Civic-minded Material and two specific nominations, as Stop Corruption, Stable (Balanced)  Development: Ukrainian Way

Student of Journalism (ZNU) and journalist at ‘Porogy’ portal, Faculty UPSSS chairman, deputy chairman of ZNU UPSSS Kateryna Poliakova has won in the nomination “The Hope of Journalism”. She presented the following paper of her journalistic investigation “Student hostels in Zaporizhzhya: residing against the rules”. At the official ceremony Kateryna was awarded with crystal stele, winner diploma and sponsors’ gifts. 

“The victory came quite unexpectedly. I found myself embarrassed in the first minutes. It was like I have been awarded with Oscar, and it was so pleasant to see such renowned and honourable jury have approved of my paper. I really liked the event organisation level”, shared her impressions Kateryna Poliakova

Panel of judges was represented with Vakhtang Kipiani (journalist, ‘Istorychna Pravda’ project coordinator), Olena Prytula (editor-in-chief of  “Ukrayinska Pravda” Internet-edition), Andriy Kulykov (anchorman for “Svoboda slova on ICTV”), Savik Shuster (journalist, anchorman, president of “SavikShusterStudio”), Vitaliy Portnikov (editor-in-chief for “TBi” Broadcasting Channel), Zurab Alasania (founder of “Media-port”), Otar Dovzhenko (journalist, Department of Journalism professor at Ukrainian Catholic University), Oleksa Shalayskyi (“Nashi Groshi” project coordinator) and Valentyna Samar (director of  information press centre in Simferopol).
