May, 17 the following workshop was held for teachers of Biology, Chemistry and Ecology from Zaporizhzhya region.
Senior lecturer from the Department of Didactics and Methods of Teaching Natural and Mathematical Courses (Regional Institute for Postgraduate Pedagogic Education) S. Dekhtiarenko stressed on the issues of Didactics in Natural Sciences courses. She also underlined the ongoing urgency to sustain interaction between teachers and scholars aimed at achieving mutual goal – shaping school students’ personality.
Dean of the Biology Faculty, Doctor of Pharmaceutics, Prof. Liudmyla Omelyachyk spoke on prospective students’ situation, introducing teachers to activities and prospects of capacity-building at the Faculty. Then the workshop attendees had a tour around faculty facilities and laboratories. Special attention was drawn to correct handling of precursors (chemicals used at any stage of toxic chemical substances production), requiring specific storage and usage conditions and subject to strict application control.
Department of General and Applied Ecology and Zoology Assoc. Prof. and Doctor of Biology O. Rylskyi introduced the workshop participants to the Department’s major achievements and speciality of Ecology prospects.
Department of Landscape Design and Plant Genetics head, Doctor of Biology and Professor V. Liakh shared on his Department accomplishments and prospects for scientific fields and specialities’ development.
Department of General and Applied Ecology and Zoology Assoc. Prof., Ph.D. in Biology O. Korzh highlighted general concepts of modern state of the environment as a science and outlined crucial scenarios of further interaction between humanity and nature.
The workshop was finished by touring Museum of Zoology located at the Faculty premises. The decision was made to foster cooperation between the Faculty of Biology and Zaporizhzhya Regional Institute for Postgraduate Pedagogic Education related to introducing teachers from the region to up-to-date achievements in Natural Sciences.
