Plenary session 2, rectors of Ukrainian HEIs and national companies’ representatives continued discussing power efficiency projects' implementation in universities, advanced power efficiency technologies application as well as exchanging experience and debating. The event was visited by 111 guests, among them 36 rectors from 58 higher education institutions.
The conference was presided by First Vice Minister of Education and Science Yevgen Sulima, Department of Science and Licensing (Ministry of Education and Science) director Oleksandr Yakymenko and ZNU Acting Rector Oleksandr Bondar. Also, foreign guests keeping partnership relations with ZNU within diverse scientific and applied directions were on the event-list: Institute of Facility Management director, Professor Wolfgang Schmal (Germany), Paisi Hilendarski University Doctor Ivan Simeonov (Bulgaria), University of Illinois Doctor Hui-Ching Chang (U.S.A.) and Bluffton University Doctor Perry Bush (U.S.A).
Their reports and experience in energy conservation shared rectors from a range of HEIs. For example, rector of National Mining University Gennadiy Pivniak has been speaking of cooperation ties with Donbass Fuel & Energy Company on implementing joint project in heat pumps installation at the university campus. The report has called forth both significant interest and a string of power efficiency-related questions.
In addition, acting rector of Donetsk National University Petro Yegorov has spoken on advanced technologies and materials application, as well as their approval across various universities of Ukraine and achievements in energy conservation.
During the plenary session Yevgen Sulima has drawn attention to the support of innovation ideas and successful practices, achieved by some of Ukrainian HEIs in energy saving sector. Those top administrators having no power efficiency technologies implemented at the moment were advised to launch the power efficiency projects with no delay for the survival of their institutions.
For all the conference guests and participants an exhibition of scientific and study books was arranged, aimed at introducing the academic community to ZNU researchers’ input in “Energy Savings in a University’s Power Efficiency” and a lot more timely research papers.
