June 2, the conference which has brought together top administrators across Ukrainian higher education institutions finally came to its end.
At the event the attendees have raised the pressing issues of implementing and elaborating energy saving programmes at higher education institutions and approved of resolution which will be referred to the Ministry of Education and Science for consideration. In the future, the abstracts approved at the scientific forum should serve as programme initiatives in carrying out energy conservation measures.
On the second day of plenary sessions, the conference participants heared еру reporters sharing their own power efficiency and energy saving technology practices. Their reports to the academic community presented Zaporizhzhya Regional Entrepreneurs and Manufacturers Union President Petro Vanat, Berlin Institute of Facility Management director and Professor Wolfgang Schmal (Germany); ZNU Vice Rector for Educational Research, Professor Volodymyr Volkov; ZNU Department of Applied Physics head, Professor Valeriy Mishchenko; Paisi Hilendarski University Doctor Ivan Simeonov (Bulgaria); National Polytechnic University Department of Solar Power Engineering head, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Genadiy Khrypunov; University of Illinois Doctor Hui-Ching Chang (U.S.A.).
The participants had a wonderful opportunity to exchange the experience, establish business contacts and obtain responses to some burning issues.
Closing the conference First Vice Minister Yevgen Sulima marked, that upon completion of the large-scale scientific and practical forum as this one, where top directions of energy saving activities to be carried out by HEIs’ top management were devised and approved, a thorough practical work should be launched at virtually every higher education institution.
In conclusion, the rectors of HEIs were strongly advised by First Vice Rector to conduct a more in-depth analysis of experience accumulated by Zaporizhzhya National University in energy conservation technologies implementation, as well as find their own ways and strategies for similar projects realization.
