Volodymyr Alyeynikov, poet, novelist, essayist, translator, artist, representative of The Sixtiers, the legend of Soviet samizdat, visited Zaporizhzhya National University on May, 30.
At the literary meeting there were present students and teachers of the Philological Faculty of ZNU and guests who are attracted to the work of Volodymyr Dmytriyovych.
At beginning of the event Oleksandr Muravin, associate professor, candidate of Philology at the Department of Russian Philology of the Philological Faculty of ZNU, told the participants of the literary meeting about such cultural and social phenomenon as The Sixtiers, and about the life and career of the distinguished guest. Volodymyr Dmytriyovych started writing the prose and poems back in high school years. He studied music, painting and graphics. In 1962-1964 he was a member of a group of young poets of Kryviy Rih and just since 1962 in Ukrainian newspapers started to appear his first publication. In 1963 he was subjected to exposure in the Ukrainian press during Khrushchev's persecution of the form
alism, so he had to move to Russia.
Volodymyr Alyeynikov was one of the founders of the legendary literary community “SMOG”. He was and remained the acknowledged leader of “SMOG” and one of the major figures of the domestic underground for all his contemporaries.
During the Soviet Union the poet was not published in his motherland. More than a quarter of century his poems were widely distributed in samizdat. In the early 80s he wrote the poetry for children. He wrote the internal reviews in the Moscow publishing houses for several years, and in the 80s he was known as a translator of the poetry of all the nations, who lived in the USSR.
In the motherland the publications of poetry and prose were began only during the adjustment period. Today Volodymyr Alyeynikov is the author of many books of poetry and prose, memories of a bygone era and his contemporaries. Since 1991 he lives in Koktebel, sometimes he’s coming to Moscow.
During the literary meeting Volodymyr Alyeynikov presented his poetry to the audience.
