From the beginning of this year in Zaporizhzhya occurs the monthly contest for the best sportsman and coach. It was organized by the regional office of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Association of Sports Journalists of Ukraine. Best sportsman of Zaporizhzhya in July, by a vote, recognized student of Zaporizhzhya National University swimmer Sergiy Frolov. Accordingly, the best was the coach of Sergiy - honored coach of Ukraine Igor Bondarenko.
For the first seven months of this honorary title awarded to sportsman for success in swimming. So the best athletes in our city called mainly athletes. Also this year celebrated wrestler, gymnast, and a representative of the sport as diving.
Sergiy Frolov noted this honorary title for two presentations at prestigious international competitions - World Universiade (Kazan) and the World Championships in water sports (Barcelona), held in July.
We remind that during the Universiade Sergiy won "silver" on the 800 meter freestyle, setting a new record of Ukraine (7.51,02) and "bronze" in the race for 1500 meter freestyle.
In Barcelona, where Sergey was the only representative of Zaporizhzhia he participated in the heats at the 1500, 800 and 400 meter freestyle, however, despite the rather good results he could not get to the final competition.
This year's summer was rich in remarkable achievement for Sergiy. In June, he won four silver medals at the XXXIV International competitions in swimming MARE NOSTRUM (Barcelona and Cannes). And in August, our swimmer won the "bronze" in the first stage of the World Cup (Netherlands) on the 1500 meter freestyle.
