Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Simon Smith met with the leadership and students of ZNU
October 17 to Zaporizhzhya National University with an official visit came Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Simon Smith. During his visit to ZNU Mr. Smith met with the leadership of our university, gave a lecture to students of Zaporizhzhya National University on the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union and participated in informational and educational events that took place within the project of the Institute of World Politics "Street University".

Victor Gristchak, Vice-Rector for Maintenance and Supply Sergiy Kushnir and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of ZNU Galyna Moroshkina.
During the working meeting First Vice-Rector of ZNU Oleksandr Bondar described the main areas of cooperation of the University with British universities and institutions, as well as the prospects of international cooperation in this vector. In particular, Oleksandr Grygorovych said that in the Faculty of Foreign Languages of ZNU learning English as a first foreign more than 1,000 students. In addition, those students who are studying in other university faculties, also necessarily learn a foreign language, mostly - English. On the basis of our university functioning Centers for intensive foreign languages studies, whose services can benefit not only teachers and students of ZNU, but also inhabitants of Zaporizhzhya. Also, Zaporizhzhya National University participates in international academic projects, within which is already established cooperation with several British higher education institutions.
Oleksandr Bondar also took to the priorities of international activities of the University academic staff and students mobility. He said that ZNU wants to cooperate with foreign educational institutions in partnership and noted that English students who, for example, studied Slavic languages, can pass pedagogical practices and attend summer language school on the basis of ZNU. Oleksandr Grygorovych said that in the future our University would like to realize with one of the British universities double diploma program, which now operates between our University and University du Maine (France).
In turn, Mr. Smith said that he works a lot with the British Council in Ukraine (Kyiv), which is also interested in cooperation of Ukrainian universities with universities as well as with business entities of UK. Simon Smith looked forward to fruitful cooperation with representatives of the University of Great Britain and provided those attended the meeting an information materials about international scholarship program, funded by the British side.
Vice-Rector for Science and Research Victor Gristchak presented Mr. Smith a package of proposals for a possible business collaboration with universities and research institutions of the United Kingdom, and First Vice-Rector of ZNU Oleksandr Bondar presented the honorary guest book published for the anniversary of Zaporizhzhya National University.
During a meeting with students Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Simon Smith gave the audience a small lecture on the prospects that are opening up our country after a possible successful signing in November of Ukraine Association Agreement with the European Union. Also, Mr. Smith answered the questions, which put students, about the prospects that will get our country after joining the European Union, the policy followed by the United Kingdom on the subject, learning opportunities for our students abroad and so on. In the end of the meeting Simon Smith thanked the students for their interesting questions and noted that he was impressed by the fact that students are fluent in English.
Visit of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Simon Smith continued his participation in informational and educational event "Street University", which took place on the campus of ZNU.
