November 11 in Economics and Law College of Zaporizhzhya National University began a week of Ukrainian language and literature. Its organizers - teachers and students of ELC - the event was timed to the Day of Ukrainian writing and language, which is traditionally celebrated on November 9. This year's grand opening week of the Ukrainian language in college coincided with the IV All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Ukrainian.
In her welcoming speech Deputy Director of ELC of ZNU of educational work Olena Artemenko reminded college students of 1st-2nd years - the Olympiad participants - that within a week they face a lot of fun activities. Olena Viktorivna urged the audience to take an active part in it to check their knowledge of the Ukrainian language and literature. She also read to students a well-known poem by Victor Baranov "To Ukrainian", which refers to the patriotism and preserve the native language.
Student of the College of Economics and Law Julia Badlo recited a poem dedicated to the memory of the great Ukrainian poet and public figure Taras Shevchenko. Students and teachers attending the event, expressed admiration of her performance and rewarded Julia with loud applause.
Also the participants viewed the video dedicated to the annual holiday - Day of Ukrainian literature and language, which is celebrated to commemorate Saint Nestor the Chronicler.
In addition, all interested can view the thematic exhibition, prepared by staff of the Scientific Library of ZNU on which were well represented textbooks on Ukrainian language.
After the celebrations for three hours the Olympiad participants performed a written competitive tasks to demonstrate their level of literacy and the ability to creatively approach the performance of their tasks. Before the competition college coaches reminded them that within three years, students of Economics and Law College of ZNU adequately represent their educational institution in the competition, and expressed the hope that this time will be among the winners and representatives of the College of Economics and Law.
