Head of Political, Press and Information Department of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Zoltan Szalai held a meeting with students of ZNU
Zaporizhzhya National University with a working visit attended Head of Political, Press and Information Department of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Zoltan Szalai. While staying at our universities Mr. Zoltan met with teachers and students of the Faculty of Management, Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration, Faculty of History and Faculty of Economics, and also visited European Information Center of ZNU.
At the beginning of the visit, Zoltan Szalai accompanied by Vice-Rector for Science and Research Victor Gristchak and Head of the International Office Olena Tupakhina visited European Information Center of Zaporizhzhya National University, and held an open lecture for the students and teachers of our university. Welcomed with the participants, Mr. Salai suggested that they choose for communication format not the lecture, but equal dialogue. In his speech, Zoltan Szalai outlined on the present state of relations between Ukraine and the European Union. He emphasized that the signing of the Association Agreement, scheduled for November 28th, might be truly historic moment for our country. However, he said, for the European Union signing this document is no less important.
He also denounced several myths that are currently prevalent in Ukrainian society about the possible consequences of signing it. So, he said that even if due to certain reasons the Association Agreement will be signed later in this month, this does not mean that Ukraine will lose forever the chance to become a future member of the EU. In addition, he noted that the agreement does not affect directly on visa facilitation and do not facilitate the job search for the citizens of Ukraine in Europe. However, the European way of development, if it chooses, our country, make it more affordable education abroad for Ukrainian students, and this, in turn, increase their chance of getting decent work.
Participants of the meeting asked many questions to guest, regarding on how are the most Europeans refer to signing of this document, which receives the benefits of joining the European Union to Ukraine association agreement or impact on rate of national currency, etc..
Finally of the meeting Vice-Rector for Science and Research Victor Gristchak thanked the guests on behalf of all those present at the event for the interesting and informative conversation.
