Representatives of Philological Faculty of ZNU joined the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Boris Hrinchenko

December 11 teachers and students of the Faculty of Philology of Zaporizhzhya National University prepared and held an open lecture on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Boris Hrinchenko.

With a welcoming speech to the participants addressed Dean of the Faculty of Philology Tamara Khomiak. She noted that this year December 9 famous writer would have turned 150 years old today, as it is a holiday organized to commemorate this date.
The moderator of the event was the student of the Faculty of Philology Oksana Kachura. At the beginning of the event she suggested meeting participants to view a video presentation about the life and career of Borys Dmytrovych. He was a writer, teacher, historian, journalist, social and cultural activist and editor of a number of Ukrainian periodicals, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Radical Party. Borys Hrynchenko defended the promotion of the Ukrainian language in schools and institutions, was the author of fundamental ethnographic, linguistic, literary and educational works, historical essays, the first textbooks on Ukrainian language and literature, "Native Word" — books for reading in school, compiled four volume explanatory "Ukrainian Language Dictionary", one of the organizers and leaders of society "Enlightenment".
His works, which have been researched and interesting little-known facts of the life and work of Borys Hrinchenko presented students of the Faculty: Anzhelika Kalyuzhna, Galyna Pyshna, Vira Rasyhina, Yulia Pfeiffer, Kateryna Rula, Oksana Suliy, Alina Alyeksyeyenko, Olena Severinenko and Yulia Korniyets.
