At the Faculty of Biology discussed the environmental issues of energy industry in Ukraine

20 December at the Faculty of Biology of Zaporizhzhya National University held a roundtable discussion "Ecological problems of energy industry in Ukraine. Alternative energy sources" with students, postgraduates, young scientists and lecturers of the Faculty.

The event was organized by the Department of General and Applied Ecology and Zoology and Scientific Community of Students and Postgraduates of the Faculty. Participation in the roundtable discussion took 2nd-4th years students of Biological Faculty and students of the College of Economics and Law of ZNU with teacher, an assistant of the same Department Larysa Zolotarenko-Gorbunova who is the head of the regional organization of the All-Ukrainian Ecological League.
Opened the meeting Dean of Biological Faculty, professor Lyudmyla Omelyanchyk. She welcomed the participants of the forum and all those present and reminded that many issues for keeping and restoration ecology on the planet depends on scientists and on each of us. Lyudmyla Oleksandrivna also welcomed all those present with upcoming New Year holidays. To her words joined Head of the Department of General and Applied Ecology and Zoology Olexander Rylsky, who said that mankind is responsible for keeping the environment, as well as exactly it has caused most of the changes in the natural environment.
This year, students-biologists discussed the following topics: "The energy potential of Ukraine" (speaker - student of 2nd year Ganna Yugrina), "Heatpower" (student of 2nd year Alina Kovalenko), "Oil as one of the energy sources in Ukraine. Problems of water purification from oil products" (student of 2nd year Kateryna Sheremet), "Hydropower" (student of 2nd year Maryna Dzhos), "Kakhovka Sea - a cemetery of Velyky Lug" (1st year students of Economics and Law College of ZNU Olena Shvets and Daryna Shuryga), "Nuclear power in Ukraine. The main problems and prospects" (student of 2nd year Mariya Misiruk), "The environmental problems of shale gas in Ukraine" (4th year student Anastasiya Skokova), "The development of alternative energy in Ukraine" (3rd year student Oksana Kamyenova), "Biological methods of getting energy" (1st year student of Economics and Law College Oleksandra Shkuropat). During a meeting among its participants was a lively discussion and interesting discussions considered on environmental issues.
At the end of the meeting the Dean of Biological Faculty Lyudmyla Omelyanchyk presented Certificates to most active speakers.
