February 6 in Zaporizhzhya National University held a grand sports event. On this day, the University administration, representatives of all Faculties and honorary guests of ZNU gathered together to celebrate our best athletes - winners of 50 Games among the students of our university, which continued throughout the 2012-2013 academic year.
The organizers of the solemn event were the staff of Sports and recreation complex, with the support of our university ZNU Center of Culture, as well as Departments of Social Pedagogics and Psychology and Physical Education.
During the event, the winners of the Jubilee Spartakiads of Zaporizhzhya National University, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, who for the past year received 
victory in competitions of All-Ukrainian and international levels, congratulated the honored guests of ZNU: Deputy Head of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration Eduard Bahirov, Head of Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Zaporizhzhya City Council Viktor Stepanenko and Head of Zaporizhzhya Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vladimir Lobanov and also Rector of ZNU, professor Mykola Frolov, First Vice-Rector Oleksandr Bondar and Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education Mykola Malikov.
Volodymyr Lobanov read the audience congratulation of Head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka on the occasion of the beginning of the XXII Olympic Winter Games, which will be opened on February 7 in Sochi. He also congratulated the winners of faculties Spartakiads of ZNU, noting that for many athletes it is a victory in student competitions are often the beginning of significant sports achievements. To these congratulations joined Eduard Bagirov and Viktor Stepanenko.
At the beginning of the event, its hosts – participants of the studio conversational genre "STEM-MS" of Cultural Center of ZNU, students Mykola Kopylovsky and Kateryna Chernysh – reminded the audience that the Games among the students of our university (then - Zaporizhzhya State Pedagogical Institute) were started in the Department of Physical Education in 1964. Every year the number of those wishing to participate in these sports competition grows, so now it involve 1000-1500 participants.
In his welcoming speech Rector of ZNU, professor Mykola Frolov noted , that the leadership of our university is making great efforts to ensure that our teachers and students engaged in sports. That is why there are 14 ZNU sports sections sports contest held annually among teachers and staff and students, and representatives of our university is constantly winning competitions nationwide, international and global levels. Mykola Oleksandrovych noted that in the future administration of the university will fully support the athletes of our university, contributing to new victories. Furthermore, Mykola Oleksandrovych promised that if in Games 2012/13 academic year the competition among students were held through 8 kinds of sports, then 
further this list should expand. He also promised that in future sports contest winners receive special awards - trips to the largest ski resort in Ukraine Bukovel.
The awarding ceremony began with the presentation of cups, diplomas and valuable prizes to the winners of the competition among women's teams. For example, in chess competition 3rd place took athletes of the Faculty of History, 2nd place – representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration, and won students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In checkers 3rd place took representatives of the Faculty of Biology, 2nd – students of the Faculty of Management, and 1st place took – students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In table tennis, the 3rd place took representatives of Biological Faculty, at the 2nd – athletes from the Faculty of Journalism, and the 1st place took – students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. In volleyball 3rd place took team of the Philological Faculty, 2nd place – took students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and 1st place – students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration. In basketball (three by three) 3rd place took representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration, 2nd place – took athletes of the Faculty of Economics, and 1st – Philological Faculty. 
At competitions in basketball 3rd place took a team of of the Faculty of Biology, 2nd place – students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration, 1st place in this sport - the team of Philological Faculty. At the athletics competitions 3rd place – took the Faculty of Management, 2nd place – took Philological Faculty, and 1st place – took Biological Faculty.
According to the results of the general offset sports contest among girls, 3rd place took Philological Faculty (Dean - Tamara Khomyak, curator of sports contest - teacher Yelyzaveta Sheptiy), the 2nd place – Faculty pf Social Sciences and Administration (Dean - Maxim Lepsky, curator - teacher Ilya Danchenko), and the 1st place – Faculty of Foreign Languages (Dean – Galyna Moroshkina, curator of sports contest - senior lecturer Sergei Zhestkov).
According to the results of 2012-2013 ZNU sports contest, among boys, competing in chess 3rd place took representatives of the Faculty of History, 2nd place – Physics Faculty, and 1st place – Faculty of Journalism. In checkers 3rd place took athletes of Economics Faculty, 2nd – Biological Faculty, and 1st place – Faculty of Management. In table tennis on 3rd place – team of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, the 2nd place – Faculty of Physics, and the best became tennis players of Economics Faculty. In volleyball 3rd place took boys of Economics Faculty, 2nd place – Faculty of Biology, and 1st – Mathematics Faculty.
In basketball (three by three) 3rd place took athletes of the Faculty of History, 2nd – Faculty of Management, and 1st place – Law Faculty. In the competition on mini football 3rd place took the team of the Law Faculty, 2nd place – Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration, 1st place – Faculty of History. At the competition in basketball 3 rd place took athletes of Faculty of History, 2nd place – Economics Faculty, and 1st place – Faculty of Foreign Languages. At the athletics competitions on 3rd place – team of Physics Faculty, on 2nd place – Economics Faculty, and on 1st place – Faculty of History.
According to the results of the general offset sports contest ZNU 2012-2013, among young men, on 3rd place – team of the Physics Faculty (Dean - Andrey Andreev, curator of sports contest - senior lecturer Antonina Gureeva); the 2nd place – Economics Faculty, (Dean - Alla Cherep, curator - teacher Kateryna Lukoyanova), and on the 1st place – Faculty of History (acting Dean - Irina Kryvko, curator - senior lecturer Olga Rybalko).
Also during the event were awarded the best sports teams ZNU that during the last year won a convincing victory in the competition of urban, 
nationwide and international levels. So,First Vice-Rector Oleksandr Bondar solemnly presented the awards to representatives of men's basketball team of ZNU (coach - Head of the Department of Physical Education Victor Gorbulya), national team of mini-football "Hope of ZNU" (coach - Yuri Aristenko), volleyball team, "Orbit-ZTMC-ZNU" (now coached athletes Honored coach of Ukraine Igor Filishtinsky) and of our university national team of sports aerobics (coach - senior lecturer, Department of Olympic and professional sports of our university Elena Chernenko and Honored coach of Ukraine, a graduate student of the Faculty of Physical Education ZNU Boris Kokarev).
On behalf of all student-athletes of ZNU performed the head of the student council, a member of the team on mini-football "Hope ZNU" Anton Osadchuk. He thanked the university management for supporting the sports movement in ZNU, as well as in the audience was invited to attend all events and actively support their teams.
Also during the festival were awarded the best sportsmen ZNU - champions of Ukraine, Europe, winning the world championships and the Olympic Games - a Law Faculty student Roman Agaev (arm wrestling), students of the Faculty of Physical Education Anna Derbeneva and Economics Faculty Miroslava Mala (Wushu), a student of the Faculty of Physical Education Anna Kyrylyuk (kickboxing), a student of the same Faculty Alexander Nadtoka (rowing), a graduate student of the Faculty of Physical Education Sergei Popov (beach volleyball), a student of the same Faculty Sergei Frolov (swimming). 
Awards were presented to them honored guests of ZNU - Deputy Head of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports ZOGA Eduard Bagirov, head of the National Committee of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Zaporizhzhya City Council Victor Stepanenko and Head of Zaporizhzhya Regional Branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vladimir Lobanov, а также Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education Nikolai Malikov.
Guests said many warm words about our athletes, as well as management of the university, which is doing everything possible to promote healthy lifestyles, promoting sport and support of talented youth, which, in turn, celebrates his victories on the world level competitions not only their institution but also the whole of Ukraine.
Nikolai Malikov, in particular noted that he was very pleased that among the winners of high level competitions - not only representatives of the Faculty of Physical Education, but also in other Faculties, which clearly indicates a high level of athletic training students of ZNU.
Also on behalf of the National Committee of Ukraine Vladimir Lobanov handed Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education Nikolai Malikov book "Olympic constellation of Ukraine", which refers to all Ukrainian sportsmen - winners of various competitions. Vladimir Yevgenyevich noted that in its pages repeatedly encountered names of students and graduates of Zaporizhzhya National University. Eduard Bagirov also congratulated Nikolay Vasilyevich with numerous sports 
victories of ZNU students and presented him on behalf of the Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration honorable cup. And Victor Stepanenko awarded diplomas the Executive Committee of Zaporizhzhya city council team sports complex of ZNU - winners of championships - written premium in the amount of 1,500 UAH.
A culmination of the holiday was the awarding of the Faculties - the winners in the overall Spartakiade of ZNU 2012-2013, 3rd place took Faculty of Biology (Dean - Lyudmila Omelyanchik, curator - a senior teacher Galina Petrova), 2nd place – Faculty of Social Sciences and Administration (Dean - Maxim Lepsky, curator - teacher Ilya Danchenko). The winner of the students' sports contest was Faculty of Foreign Languages (Dean - Galina Moroshkina curator - senior lecturer Sergei Zhestkov). Deans and Faculty curators of sports contest winners received prizes and trophies from the hands of the Rector of ZNU Mykola Frolov.
Also during the event festive atmosphere created ensemble performances of ballroom dance "Horizon", a folk theater "Phoenix" and demonstrations team aerobics of ZNU. During the awarding in the hall students and teachers from all Faculties sincere applause supported their teams, and at the end of the event gave an ovation to winners.
