The first open theatre festival of chamber performances “Golden Khortitsa” was held in Zaporizhzhya on September 21 – 25. The festival took place in frame of celebration of Zaporizhzhya anniversary. Administration of culture of Zaporizhzhya city council and municipal laboratory-theatre “VIE” arranged and financed it.

This opportunity to watch performances of talented, young and ambitious masters of Ukrainian and Russian stage was the first one in Zaporizhzhya. Students of Zaporizhzhya National University didn’t stand apart from this important arrangement.
Second year students of ZNU faculty of journalism and deputy dean in charge of scientific work Kateryna Buslajeva were present at the opening. The spectators were shown a play by creative workshop “ASI” (“Active side of infinity”, the name appeals to works of Carlos Castaneda) from St. Petersburg. Director Oleksij Jankovs’ky presented the play ”Cabaret Bukhenvald” based on work of Russian writer Klim, nominee of UNESKO prize 2004. The role of a singer in nostalgic café played an actress of Riga theatre of Russian drama Tetiana Bondareva.
Students of ZNU faculty of journalism were impressed by her performance and the idea occurred to them to organize special meeting-discussion. One of yesterday’s lessons was dedicated to problem of a woman in modern society. And today those who are interested will visit theatre «VIE» and the play ”Chapaev and emptiness” of Donets’k chamber studio-theatre “Bugs” based on Viktor Pelevin’s work of the same name.
