Sport-dance contest “Zaporizhzhya-2005” took place at Zaporizhzhya National University in frame of city Day celebration.
An arrangement was supported by city head Eugene Kartashov, administration of culture of city council and administration in charge of youth affairs and sports of Zaporizhzhya regional state administration.
Ceremonial part of the contest was opened by city head Eugene Kartashov and ZNU rector, professor Sergij Tymchenko. Honored guests wished the participants confidence and victory in their speeches. The contest was arranged by Ukrainian Association of sport dance, clubs of sport dance “Dynamo-Zaporizhzhya” and “Fiesta”.
186 pairs from 16 Ukrainian cities partook in the arrangement, the sportsmen age and experience differed. There were little 5 – 7 years old dancers and grown up sportsmen with world achievements. Sviatoslav Vlokh – president of Ukrainian association of sport dance, member of national Olympic committee appraised skill of the dancers. Dance stars visited the contest as well. Silver prize winners of World Championship Anton Kalubaev and Ganna Lantuh performed for the guests.
Ukrainian Cup in juvenile categories was held in frame of the contest at ZNU sport club. In the “Grown up” category prizes and diplomas were given to Anton Kalubaev and Ganna Lantuh from Dnipropetrovs’k. In Latin-American program they lost to Kyiv guests Oleksij Bis’ko and Ganna Palamarchuk. Kharkiv representatives Kyrylo Shkureev and Kateryna Strel’nikova won bronze medals.
Odessa dancers Yuri Kovrizhny and Maria Shyshyna were the best among the smallest dancers in the category “5 -7 years old”. The best Zaporizhzhya pair in this category is Bogdan Shulika and Anastasia Mormul’. They won silver. Our region was presented by two cities - Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol.
