IV Jujitsu Zaporizhzhya Region Open Championship

IV Jujitsu Zaporizhzhya Region Open Championship, consecrated to the memory of internationalist soldiers, was held on February 12 in ZNU Sports Center.

The participants:

·                       from Zaporizhzhyarepresentatives of Zaporizhzhya Jujotsu Federation (based in ZNU), specialized teamShchyt” (ZNTU), Cossacksmartial art schoolSpas;

·                       from Dnipropetrovs’k and Dnipropetrovs’k Region – representatives of Dnipropetrovs’k Region Jujitsu Federation, “Rey” sports-club, military-sports club “Muzhnist’”, youth sports club “Vympel”, military-sports club “Patriot”;

·                       from Kryvyy Rih – representatives of “Tatsu-Do” school.   

President of Zaporizhzhya Jujitsu Federation, black belt holder, champion of Ukraine, permanent participant and prize-winner of many full-contact tournaments and closed competitions for special elements and force structures, Vitaliy D’yakov was Chief Referee of the championship.

The tournament was opened by ZNU Rector, Professor Sergiy Tymchenko, who stressed that he was happy to see such well-known teams within the precincts of our university in the year of its 75th anniversary, and wished great victories to all the participants. Deputy Chief of Zaporizhzhya Region Association of Ukrainian Veterans Of Afghanistan And Internationalist Soldiers Union Valentyn Zarva, Deputy Director of Regional Center For Patriotic Upbringing Of Youth Yuriy Grinchenko, member of bureau of Region Committee of Socialist Party of Ukraine Natalka Litosh and member of political council of Zaporizhzhya city organization of Civil Party “Pora” Sergiy Pavlovs’kyy joined the greetings. 

After the anthem sounded and the flag was hoisted, all the teams lined up in front of spectators. First prize winners of III Regional Military-Patriotic Songs Contest “Spadshchyna” Viktoriya Novikova (ZNU, Faculty of Mathematics) and Ganna Dyadychenko sang songs  about Afghanistan War, accompanied by guitar. 

The tournament lasted from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dnipropetrovs’k Region Jujitsu Federation (leader – Volodymyr Skrypnyuk) won in stubborn struggle owing to their good form and mainly to the number of sportsmen. Sports club “Muzhnist’” were runners-up, while “Vympel” (Dnipropetrovs’k Region) finished third. Representatives of Zaporizhzhya Jujitsu Federation weren’t left without prizes too – Dmytro Danylov, Mykhaylo Pavlovs’kyy, Vladyslav Romanovs’kyy, Sergiy Duplenko, Dmytro Druchok and others were among the prize-winners in different age and weight groups.
