On May 8, at Victory Day’s eve on the Soviet square the meeting, dedicated to the 62-nd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war, was held. Olga Urvachova, the head of Zhovtnevy district state administration, opened the meeting. Those veterans who were present on the square were congratulated by Evgen Kartashov, the mayor Zaporizhzhya. He thanked veterans for peaceful heaven and wished them health and long years of life.
Then Sergij Belikov, the rector of ZNTU took the word. He noted that victory of the Soviet army in 1945 was the victory of good over evil, that victory ensured life into people of Soviet union and nations and countries of Europe. The rector of ZNTU also told, that in 1943 parents were students and studied practically in ruins, and now due to achievements of Soviet soldiers Zaporizhzhya has a lot of modern educative establishments.
From ZNU the rector Sergij Timchenko, representatives of administration and some of the teaching staff came to congratulate veterans.
In honor of soldiers, killed on fronts of the war candles were lit, their memory was honored with the silence minute. And after the meeting veterans and all the present tasted the soldier gruel, the front “hundred grams” and listened to concerto.
