In Zaporizhzhya National University on May 23-24, hosted a two-day training "Approach somatic and cognitive processing of traumatic experience in soldiers". Visiting coach Katja Kolcio has a degree in somatic and teaches at the University Veslinskomu (Ph.D. Somatics, Associate Professor of Dance, Movement Studies Environmental Studies Wesleyan University, CT, USA (Connecticut, USA). Her co-trainer Martha Pivovarenko - psychologist, consultant, coach, chairman of the NGO «Development Foundation», which works with physical manifestations of PTSD through body-cognitive approach (Lviv, Ukraine).
The event was attended by about thirty experts - psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, social workers, social workers, volunteers, teachers and students from different regions of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad) and the cities of Zaporizhzhya region (Melitopol, Energodar). All are actively involved in body-oriented practices are explained and demonstrated Katja Kolcio.
Coach analyzed how the traumatic experience remains in our body as the body remembers even very early trauma, explained the mechanisms of physical manifestation of injury, spoke about retravmatyzatsiyu and psychological exhaustion in professionals working with soldiers or veterans ATO. Katja Kolcio freely and professionally explained and showed how to apply body-oriented approach through the method of combining body and mind.
During two days of training, participants reviewed the basic principles of a somatic, cognitive approach, drew attention to the basics of caring for others and for themselves; discovered the principles of a deliberate touch, sound; learned the rules of physical contact and physical interactions using somatic techniques; fixed exercise "Taking care of myself": how to maintain good health and minimize secondary trauma using somatic-cognitive approach; worked with a sense of control; creative exercises to perform or use in extreme field conditions; carried out a consistent series of techniques to release tension "weight loss", "self ordering through the motions", etc.
The focus was on practical work body, for example, each body has its own history; use breathing techniques; in the movement of the body; a series of exercises while standing and/or sitting in a chair for the revitalization of the body.
At the end of the second day, all participants received certificates attesting twelve o'clock practical work in somatic, cognitive approach as part of a training session "approach somatic and cognitive processing of traumatic experience in soldiers".
