On May 27 Zaporizhzhya National University held a scientific conference "Universal Design (education and culture institutions, government agencies, infrastructure), the European experience and practice". The event was organized by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, Fund of Social Protection of the Disabled, the Ukrainian public organization "Ukrainian parliament employable disabled" (NGO VPPI), Zaporizhzhya regional organization of NGO "Ukrainian parliament employable disabled" and ZNU.
According to organizers, the main purpose of the project - a review of modern means of implementation barrier-free environment for people with disabilities, the principles of universal design, reasonable accommodation and state building barrier-free environment in Europe and Ukraine, as well as facilitating the creation of a society of equal rights and equal opportunities, reports to government agencies, civil society norms, standards and principles of civilized life for all citizens.
They also note that for the developed countries of Europe, the term "universal design" has become familiar. However, despite the ratification by Ukraine of the Convention on disability rights, though the norms and principles of barrier-free environment is not always carried out. That helps people with disabilities opportunities
access to facilities of education, culture, social infrastructure and 
fulfillment in the life of society. Thus, since 2011 Ukrainian parliament NGO working age persons with disabilities; monitors to ensure barrier-free, including an inclusive environment for citizens with disabilities access to various objects of life in Europe. In parallel, the organization monitored the availability and creation of barrier-free environment in Ukraine.
During the meeting, participants were presented a unique European experience in the field of improvement of infrastructure of international and intercity communications and urban infrastructure that can balance the rights of persons with disabilities. Also at the event were the problems of inclusive education for children with cancer. The participants of the meeting shared their experience in the field of care for people with disabilities discussed the problems facing them and determined the prospects of future cooperation with the authorities and civil society organizations.
In discussing these issues, all participants expressed their vision of solving these problems and proposed various conceptual approaches of solution to them.
After the event was held to discuss the results of practical study of barrier-free environment in Zaporozhye and achievements resolution conference, which will be sent to the authorities authorities.
