At the Faculty of Social Pedagogics and Psychology held online meeting with a famous American psychotherapist Bruce Young

30 September in the framework of collaboration of the ZNU Faculty of Social Pedagogics and Psychology, in particular its Department of Psychology and the public organization “Development Foundation” was held an online meeting with the American psychotherapist Bruce Young (California). At that meeting the representatives of the Department of Psychology were translators for Mr. Bruce and participants from different cities of Ukraine (Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Kherson, Mykolaev).
Bruce Young, a supervisor with many years’ experience of psychotherapeutic work in the veterans' rehabilitation center in the USA (Menlo Park), held a supervisory meeting for Ukrainian psychologists-volunteers, psychotherapists and psychiatrists on the topic: “Psychotherapeutic work with internally displaced people”.
During the event, the participants explored many issues of establishing communication in group work with the discharged combatants, interaction in family therapy, interaction with alcohol addicts, prisoners and so on. At the online meeting there were discussed the phenomena of lies, suppressed emotions and the various ways for the veterans of the anti-terrorist operation to feel “alive”.
Let us recall that the main purpose of the supervisions of such format is to help build and improve strategies of psychotherapeutic work with internally displaced people and their children in group or individually; and also to optimize the process of providing psychological and therapeutic support for veterans of the anti-terrorist operation.
The representatives of the Faculty of Social Pedagogics and Psychology invite all concerned and not indifferent people to join such international online events.

Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology
