On 10-13 October, a specialist in criminal psychology Jimmy Hill delivered at the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology a series of lectures to the students of the 2-5 courses and the magisters of psychology. The teachers of the Department of Psychology also attend the event: the head of the Department Nataliya Huba, the associate professors Larysa Spitsyna, Olga Ishchuk, Oksana Lukasevych. The coordinator of the event was the Associate Dean for International Affairs Nataliya Mosol.

In the beginning, Jimmy Hill introduced himself and his activities. Generally, he has a wealth of experience in criminal psychology, he was working with families, as well as criminals and children who were victims of violence, analyzed the features of memory, the emotional state of the victim in society.
Jimmy remembered the most interesting cases from practice, discussed with students the feelings and emotional state of a psychologist who worked in this field, and also informed that usually the main causes of the crime were money, love and revenge. After reviewing several video cases from Jimmy’s practice as well as from the classics of criminology, the participants analyzed the motives of the crime, the memory mechanisms of the victim and how that could influence further investigation.
Those present were interested in the operating procedure of the work of a criminal psychologist with the victim and how to conduct interviews. Answering questions, Jimmy created the situation and through the example of real dialogue demonstrated how to carry on a conversation with the victim, particularly a child.

Through the role play the lecturer explained how to analyze the emotional state of the victim, the characteristics of memory, and the veracity of memories, as it is important in court.
The students of the faculty are sincerely grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to talk with an experienced practicing psychologist, to improve their knowledge in the field of criminal psychology and find out new methods of working with the affected people.
