In the framework of all-Ukrainian actions of commemoration victims of the Famine of 1932-33 in Zaporizhzhya was opened the monument to victims of the Famine and Stalinism
In the solemn rally participated heads of regional and municipal authority, deputies of regional and municipal radas, representatives of social organisations, religious leaders, representatives of universities, in particular, the rector of ZNU Sergij Timchenko, lecturers and students of our university. In the ceremonies of inauguration of the monument participated the municipal chairman of Zaporizhzhya Evgen Kartashov and the chairman of the regional organisation «Memorial», national artist of Ukraine Tetyana Miroshnichenko. The monument was blessed by the archbishop of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol of the Ukrainian orthodox church Vasilii who also prayed for killed and those who died martyrial death from famine.
