Officially, 2017-2018 is declared the year of the German language in Ukraine and the Ukrainian language in Germany. By coincidence, this year's twenty-fifth anniversary is celebrated by the embassies of both states. That is why on the anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany announced a competition for young Ukrainians interested in the history of our countries and ready to share their impressions, thoughts, expectations and even fantasies about the development of this cooperation.
Competitive works were rated in three categories: politics, economics and society. The three best works were awarded a three-day trip to Berlin.
Student of the third year of the Faculty of Philology (specialty "Language and Literature (Russian)") Ksenia Ermakova wrote her vision of cooperation between Ukraine and Germany in the category “Society” and was subsequently invited to podium discussion at the German Embassy in Kyiv on March 6. Awards ceremony took place right after an interesting and productive discussion for issues important for the modern youth on relations between our countries.
The main prize
– a ticket to Berlin – was presented to the winners by the head of the press department of the Embassy of Germany Matias Konrad. The jury also included editors of the publication "European Pravda", director of the political school of analytics "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" and editor of the magazine "International politics and society".
Already in Berlin, the first day was devoted to study tours and discussions in government institutions. The winners visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they had an interesting conversation with Mr. Yuriy Astan, Deputy Head of the Department of Affairs of Ukraine. Further, according to the plan, there was a meeting at the Embassy of Ukraine with the diplomat Olga Myshkina.
After the official part, the winners had two days of free time to get acquainted with the capital.
