Scientific Library of ZNU invites everyone to visit the international photo exhibition "Accessibility”, which was organized by the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine, the Swedish Institute, the "National Assembly of People with a Disability of Ukraine" and ZNU. The work of the photo exhibition will last from September 19 to October 19, 2018 in the scientific library of Zaporizhzhia national university.
The photo exhibition has already been held in 18 countries of the world. It discribes 24 stories of men, women, and children from Sweden and Ukraine. Every hero of the project is a person who has the right to have a decent life and equal opportunities with others. These heroes are people with their feelings, dreams and plans, opportunities and needs. Each story is a small revelation, a prism through which we can look at our attitude towards people with disabilities, how many opportunities exist for the development and realization of their potential and the preservation of self-esteem.
Among the heroes of the exhibition you will be able to see children, teenagers and adults, citizens of Ukraine, future and real parents, representatives of creative and applied professions, those who were hired and those who can not find jobs, residents of big and small towns and rural areas. 14 Swedish and 10 Ukrainian stories are presented in the framework of the photo exhibition and they make everyone to think about the reasons for the social obstacles that adults and children with disabilities face in the process of achieving their goals. Why do they get less opportunities with equal rights?
The exhibition in Ukraine was supplemented by Ukrainian stories of people with disabilities. Participants of last year's photo exhibitions are the politician Valerii Sushkevich, young pianist with Down syndrome Liza Khaliavchenko, athlete in powerlifting Artem Hudzenko, public figure Yaroslav Hrybalskyi, and teacher Marta Nykolaieva, talented young man Mykhailo Serbin and charming woman Nataliia Klymenko. The new heroes from Zaporizhzhia are young violoncellist Oleksandra Bohdanova, a caring mother and a happy grandmother Liudmyla Donovska. They certainly know how to overcome barriers and different obstacles.
