The Faculty of Foreign Philology of Zaporizhzhia National University held celebrations on the occasion of the university joining the Year of the French language in Ukraine. The students of Faculty of Foreign Philology, led by Iryna Sharhai, head of the department of German philology and translation, and Inna Tarasiuk, associate professor at this department, prepared a French-speaking creative program, demonstrating not only their language skills, but also their creative abilities. Halyna Moroshkina, dean of the Faculty of Foreign philology, highly appreciated this educational initiative and encouraged other representatives of the faculty to join in promoting the francophonie.
At the beginning of the event, the presenters reminded those present that on March 21, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, and the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliia Hrynevych, announced the holding of the Year of the French Language in Ukraine. Therefore, from September 2018 to August 2019, Ukraine, together with partners from French-speaking countries, will hold several hundred projects and events devoted to the French language.
During the event, the attendees were greeted by the dean of the faculty Halyna Moroshkina, the head of the department of Romance philology and translation Iryna Sharhai and a professor-volunteer, a native speaker of French language Jean-Luc Isslet.
The event was attended by talented students of the faculty - Kateryna Salamatieva, Viktoriia Shpak, Sofiia Zhuk, Veronika Shevchenko, Anastasiia Shumytska, Ruslana Hlushenko and others. They impressed the audience with lyrical and fiery songs in French and choreographic compositions.
Also, there was a French-language quiz for the audience, answering the questions of which they were able to demonstrate not only language skills, but also knowledge of history, culture, literature of France, etc.
In the future plans of professors and students - on the New Year holidays to stage some kind of French fairy tale, to hold some interesting career guidance events, attracting applicants to participate in them, etc.
In addition, we have created our own French-language Facebook page, where we will publish news about events, reports on their conduct, etc. The plans of Faculty of Foreign Languages representatives are to add their page to an All-Ukrainian information site dedicated to the Year of French in Ukraine:
