The associate professors of the Faculty of Journalism are exchanging experience of teaching journalism in Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. The agenda of the visit contains studying about organization of the educational process, work of student mass media and media laboratories in cooperation with employers.
Yulia Liubchenko, Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova and Olena Usmanova, associate professors of the Department of Journalism, took part in the Erasmus + KA2 DESTIN weekly training program.
"I was especially impressed by the work of the student media. The faculty has a TV studio and an Internet radio station, which, in addition to running their own broadcasts, produce programs for regional media. Students independently create two monthly newspapers with circulation of 2,000 and 3,000 copies. Hundreds of students from different faculties work in the editorial offices, who themselves develop editorial policy, create content and form teams,” said Associate Professor Olena Usmanova.
Teachers participated in the Oxford debate "Journalist? Media worker? Who should a graduate of contemporary journalism studies be?" This model of debate involves open discussion that has no winners or losers. Its purposes are producing meanings and exchanging ideas.
ZNU representatives also presented their research at the International Conference "The Future and Identity of Journalism - Horizons, Prospects, Challenges." Participants discussed changes in the profession and journalism education in the age of digital communication. The project is ongoing and the next step will be preparing to the peer-review of the updated BA and MA studying programs in Journalism.
