On February 18, a scheduled meeting of the Erasmus + KA2 project consortium "Development of foreign language teacher training capacity as a way to implement multilingual education and European integration of Ukraine (MultiEd)" took place. The partnership was represented by the University of Tartu (Estonia), Heidelberg Pedagogical University (Germany), Aston University (UK), 8 Ukrainian universities: Zaporizhzhya National University, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi National University of Mykolaiv, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Institution “Donbas State Pedagogical University”, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, State Higher Educational Establishment "Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk", TESOL All-Ukrainian Association of English Teachers». Oleksandra Golovko, project coordinator and manager from the University of Tartu (Estonia) moderated the event.
From Zaporizhzhya National University the team was represented by the Coordinator, Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of English Translation Svitlana Zapolskykh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Foreign languages Kateryna Vasylyna, Head of Methodological Council of the Faculty of Foreign languages Olha Kanibolotska, Professor of English Philology Department Tetyana Kozlova, Associate Professor of English Philology Department Nataliia Nadtochii, Deputy Dean for International Affairs Olena Peshkova, Associate Professor of Second Language Teaching Department Olha Makedonova.
The agenda envisaged that European partners would share their experience in developing programs and creating syllabi. The meeting was opened by professors from Aston University (Birmingham, UK). Elisabeth Wielander and Susan Garton presented their experience in ensuring the quality of the educational and professional program, stressed the importance of aligning programs with university strategy, cooperation of employers, teachers and students. Elisabeth Wielander elaborated on the principles of program development, demonstrated the matrix of correlation between courses and learning outcomes. Susan Garton showed how effective learning outcomes should agree with course objectives and assessment methods in the context of Bloom's taxonomy.
The presentations of professors from Aston University was followed by the presentation of coordinator and manager of the University of Tartu (Estonia) Kristina Kallas, who explained the basic principles of syllabi, described the requirements for their writing, highlighted the specifics of assessing the quality of courses, which primarily depends on student performance and course evaluation. Mrs. Kallas spoke in detail about the structure of the syllabus, demonstrated the specifics of the course she developed on the Moodle platform: she showed how students use materials, perform different types of tasks. The Heidelberg Pedagogical University (Germany) was represented by Jutta Rymarczyk, who presented the learning competencies, features of load planning, syllabus structuring, tasks, course content and program learning outcomes.
Ukrainian partners asked questions about the procedure for developing programs and syllabi, received qualified answers from European partners. At the end of the seminar, the partners planned to update the educational and professional programs of bachelor's and master's levels of higher education in specialty 035 "Philology", specialization 035.041 "German languages and literatures (translation inclusive), 014.02" Secondary education ", to develop syllabi of new courses by April 2021.
