On June 16, 2023, a meeting of managers and coordinators of the international Erasmus+ KA2 project MultiEd “Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration” took place. The project ends on November 14, 2023, and it is necessary to sum up the preliminary results. The partners presented package reports on the performed activities, commented on the changes that were inevitable under the conditions of martial law, and discussed the prospects for solving the problems.
Sue Garton, a professor at Aston University (United Kingdom), presented an analysis of the process of updating programs and developing an e-course "CLIL Methodology". Sue Garton paid special attention to the specifics of improving educational programs and their launch. Project coordinator and manager Oleksandra Golovko from the University of Tartu (Estonia) presented a report on the preparation and implementation of updated new and updated courses (within the project the consortium developed 8 new and updated 14 courses). Oleksandra Golovko emphasized the advantages of using the latest information technologies, CLIL methodology and a student-centered approach to teaching.
From the Zaporizhia National University, the meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for Scientific Work Hennadii Vasylchuk, Coordinator, Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of English Translation Svitlana Zapolskykh, Director of the Center for Intensive Study of Foreign Languages Varvara Petrosova. Svitlana Zapolskykh reported on the implementation of the work package “Developing of Multilingual Education Strategy in Ukraine” – she analyzed the stages of the conducted survey of students, teaching staff and administrative staff, multilingual education strategies developed and successfully implemented by Ukrainian universities and National recommendations “Multilingual higher education in Ukraine”.
Representatives of the V. O. Sukhomlynskyi Mykolaiv National University reported on the dissemination aspects – holding events, disseminating information through the project website and social media. Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University presented a report on quality control of all stages and activities of the project.
The meeting of the partners was successful: the partners accepted reports on the project packages, recognized all stages of implementation as satisfactory, and made decisions on reporting and carrying out activities upon completion of the project implementation period.
