At Zaporizhzhya National University Shevchenko’s days have begun which, by tradition, will be lasting up to the end of March. Representatives of the Faculty of Philology have prepared a number of actions in which everyone who wishes to join celebration of Great Kobzar memory can take part.
This year 195-that anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth is celebrated all over the world. His creative heritage is the property not only of Ukrainian people, but also of all mankind, the value of his patriotism for construction of Ukrainian statehood is difficult for overestimating. This statement became the main thesis of solemn meeting which took place on March, 10th about bust of Kobzar. Tamara Khomyak, associate professor, the dean of the Faculty of Philology and Victor Chabanenko, professor the chief of the general and Slavic linguistics department spoke before students. Representatives of the faculty recited Shevchenko’s most known poetry.
The Scientific student's society also joined carrying out Shevchenko’s days. Its chairman Svitlana Syrytsya was the initiator of carrying out the session of the round table discussion «Shevchenko’s myth in Ukraine» which was visited by many teachers and students of the Faculty of Philology. Except students of the Faculty of Philology known researcher of Shevchenko’s works Valentyna Kravchenko, the associate professor of the Ukrainian literature department, spoke before the participants of the meeting.
